Old Beechwold
Historic District
Old Beechwold was placed on the Columbus Register of Historic Properties in 1985, and on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
In 2010 it was determined that, in 1985, the City recorded incorrect boundaries for the Old Beechwold Historic District. The City Attorney required Old Beechwold to repeat the nomination process, and City Council unanimously approved the re-nomination in 2010.
The late Henry Hunker, OSU Professor of Geography, was the driving force in attaining these historic designations. Click here to read Henry’s 1993 memo to the Association providing the background for both historic designations.
